Finding Joy in the Journey

This spring, we have been reading through and studying Paul’s letter to the Philippians. Though written from the darkness of a Roman prison cell, this brief four-chapter letter is full of joy. It serves as a great reminder that joy is not a byproduct of comfortable circumstances, but a direct reflection of where we anchor our hearts!
Over the past several weeks, Paul challenged us to look beyond our immediate trials and embrace a Christ-like mindset. We saw him disregard his own personal achievements, saying that nothing compares to the surpassing worth of simply knowing Jesus Christ. We were impressed with Jesus’ ultimate humility, emptying himself to save us.
Paul provided a practical roadmap for peace, urging us to trade our daily anxieties for prayers of thanksgiving and to deliberately focus our minds on what is true, noble, and pure. We noted that this is not easy, but acknowledged the importance of this!
As we head into the busy summer months, let us carry these lessons forward. Let's practice the gentleness and patience that Paul speaks of, guard our unity, and serve one another with the humble mind of Christ!
May God’s peace continually guard your hearts!
