Back to School

Parents and families will soon be thinking about going back to school, if they're not already. As I write this, there are less than 30 days until the first day of school.

But "back to school" is not just for parents and families. It's also a good time to be reminded that, as followers of Jesus, we are all disciplesstudents, learners, apprentices. This is a school from which we never graduate in this life!

But there are seasons in life. Sometimes we learn more than at other times. We can't be "pedal to the metal" all the time. So, "back to school" time — that is, the fall — is a good time to be reminded of this.

As we prepare for the fall, how might you be intentional about "going back to school"?

You could get back to some spiritual practices that have fallen away, or even start a new one …

  • Praying consistently
  • Reading Scripture
  • Attending worship
  • Giving financially
  • etc.

I love what the Apostle Paul says to his protege, Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:15, (CEB) …

"Make an effort to present yourself to God as a tried-and-true worker, who doesn’t need to be ashamed but is one who interprets the message of truth correctly."

Let's be the best "tried-and-true workers" that we can be for the glory of God! Amen. 🙏🏼
